Marionette shows for all ages are presented in the

 Puppet Theatre Barge throughout the year.

 From October through to July the barge is located

 in an iconic spot at Little Venice, Central

 London.                                         

             

 During August and September the barge is located

 on the river in beautiful and historic Richmond-on

During October half-term Movingstage present

The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse

These two well-known mice visit each other and both experience new sights and sounds. They end up all the wiser as a result of these adventures. A very special delight for both young and old. The Town Mouse meets the Billy Goats Gruff and other country characters. The Country Mouse meets a town cat and a Grandfather Clock and faces up to the noisy city traffic.

Shakespeare's last play is full of wisdom and humour which will not fail to entertain.

The production uses the services of accomplished actors on a master recording together with sculpted marionettes in wood and glass to captivate the soul of the viewer.

The adaptation combined with lighting, specially composed music and the setting of the whole on a vessel, gives this production a mysterious beauty and an edge which will not be forgotten.

Charles Dickens

 

A Christmas production from Dickens' well loved story about a mean old miser, Scrooge, who is visited by the Christmas ghosts and transformed into a jovial generous old man. Presented with marionettes and shadow puppets, special effects and dramatic lighting, this is an exciting and magical experience for the festive season. Suitable for everyone down to approximately 4 years old.

THE BARGE

The first performance on the barge was presented in 1982. Described as one of "London's more elusive treasures" it is an established 50 seat theatre with comfortable seating and all modern facilities.

A unique venue, it is fully heated in the winter and cooled in the summer.

The Puppet Barge is rich in atmosphere and provides the ideal setting for the imaginative shows produced by this company.

The theatre presents marionette and rod puppet spectacles throughout the year.

We welcome people with disabilities, but due to the historic construction of the vessel we are unable to provide standard wheelchair access. Please make prior arrangements in this regard.
We do have a new Hearing Loop installed in the auditorium.
Shows are given frequently off the barge in other venues, by arrangement and are available for booking.
