The production is a moving drama about the getting of wisdom from indigenous peoples, the animals and the wilderness, told with the artistic skill that is the mark of an evening production in the puppet barge. Carved marionettes together with beautiful lighting and composed soundscape make this a unique spectacle. THE BARGE The first performance on the barge was presented in 1982. Described as one of London's more elusive treasures, it is an established 50 seat theatre with comfortable seating and all modern facilities. A unique venue, it is fully heated in the winter and cooled in the summer. The Puppet Barge is rich in atmosphere and provides the ideal setting for the imaginative shows produced by this company. The theatre presents marionette and rod puppet spectacles throughout the year, spending the winter in Little Venice, central London and the summer on the River Thames from July to October giving performances at Henley-on-Thames, Marlow, Cliveden and Richmond-on-Thames. Shows are given frequently off the barge in other venues, by arrangement. and are available for booking.
| Planning your journey to the Puppet Barge: The barge operates at different locations during the summer and in London during the winter and spring. In order find the mooring position please click on one of the following place names for a link to an A-Z map showing the location. To access the map for any other location you wish to find please visit: The A-Z map then enter a post code. Ways of getting to the Puppet Barge at Little Venice: NEAREST TUBE : Warwick Avenue (Bakerloo line) - exit and walk up to the traffic lights, turn right into Blomfield Road and you will see the barge on your left opposite No 35, walk along the railings to the gate (opp. no 40) and back on yourself to the barge along the towpath. NEAREST B.R.: Paddington - 10 minutes' walk. The footbridge over the platforms (near the end of the station furthest from the main concourse) connects to the canal towpath - follow the signs to "Sheldon Square" or "Paddington Central". To find the footbridge from the main concourse, walk along Platform 1 or Platform 8. BY BUS: Bus routes 6, 16 & 98 run along Edgware Road. Alight at Warwick Ave station or Blomfield Road and walk alongside the canal (6 minutes' walk) BY CAR: On-street parking is available in the area and at weekends there is no charge. BY WATER BUS: The Waterbus runs between Camden Lock Market and Little Venice every hour and the very pleasent journey takes 45 minutes. BY BOAT: Little Venice is the junction of the Regent's Canal and the Paddington Branch of the Grand Union Canal. It can therefore be approached from the G.U. main line at Bull's Bridge (either from the Thames at Brentford or from the Midlands and beyond), or via the Regent's Canal from the Thames at Limehouse or the Lee Navigation via the Hertford Union Canal.
