THE BARGE

The first performance on the barge was presented in 1982. Described as one of London's more elusive treasures, it is an established 50 seat theatre with comfortable seating and all modern facilities. A unique venue, it is fully heated in the winter and cooled in the summer. The Puppet Barge is rich in atmosphere and provides the ideal setting for the imaginative shows produced by this company. The theatre presents marionette and rod puppet spectacles throughout the year, spending the winter in Little Venice, central London and the summer on the River Thames from July to October giving  performances at Henley-on-Thames, Marlow, Cliveden and Richmond-on-Thames.

Footsteps in the Wilderness

A moving story about friendship, the African wilderness

and the getting of wisdom

This new production is based on the life of the man who saved the white rhino and his friendship with his Zulu mentor. The production is a moving drama about the getting of wisdom from indigenous peoples, the animals and the wilderness, told with the artistic skill that is the mark of an evening production in the puppet barge. Carved marionettes together with beautiful lighting and composed soundscape make this a unique spectacle.

(Suitable for adults and young persons)
