Accessibility
We aim to make the Puppet Barge as accessible as possible. Below is some information about accessible performances and also the Puppet Barge itself to make your visit as easy and enjoyable as possible.
If you have any questions regarding access or if there is anything we can do to make your visit easier you can get in touch with us via email:

Relaxed Performances
Relaxed performances on the barge are designed to cater for any adults or children who may not be able to cope when sitting through a full length show. Although the performance itself is not altered, the house lights are left on low so that the theare does not go completely dark. Audience members are welcome to make noise without the risk of being told to be quiet. They will also be able to come and go from the auditorium.
Captioned and BSL interpreted Performances
Our captioned performances are designed for D/deaf and hard of hearing audiences. Captions are projected above or below the stage (depending on performance). Other than that, they are no different than any other performance.
BSL interpreted performances take place when we have funding to do them. The next BSL interpreted performance is SATURDAY 22ND OF NOVEMBER AT 2PM.
Concession tickets
Concession tickets are discounted tickets for senior citizens, students, unwaged and people with registered disablilities.
Carer/Personal Assistant tickets
Carers/personal assistants are admitted free of charge – Please email us info@puppetbarge.com to book a seat to add to a booking. These are not currently available online.
Opportunities for neurodivergent visitors
Would you like to support someone to visit the Puppet Barge but think that attending a public show could be overwhelming for them? For example they may be on the autistic spectrum, suffer from anxiety or have other additional needs. We can offer a one-to-one session where you and your child (or adult) meet some of our puppets and visit the space at a quiet time. This would be a 30min session with our facilitator Kate. This is not a performance. For these sessions we arrange a time on an individual basis so just email us at info@puppetbarge.com. These sessions are free to access thanks to funding from Arts Council England.
Wheelchair access
Due to the historic nature of the barge, we regret that we cannot provide wheelchair access. However, we are happy to try and facilitate your visit in whatever way we can.
Here is some information about accessing the Puppet Barge:
