Songs From these Lands #2 will feature Irini Arabatzi & Noum as they deep dive into a recently reissued book of songs collected throughout the 1800's in La Haute Savoye, the mountainous region of Eastern France.
The two friends, singers and collaborators in Idrîsî Ensemble are approaching the songs with an adventurous and playful spirit and tonight they will be sharing the result of these encounters with the intimate crowd of the Puppet Barge.

Irin Arabatzi
Irini Arabatzi, originally from Thessaloniki, Greece, began her musical journey in Brussels, where twelve years of classical piano lessons sparked her love for music but specifically jazz and improvisation. At 18, moving to Athens, she balanced Law studies with training at the Athenaeum Conservatory, performing with some of Greece’s leading artists at the National Theatre, Athens Music Hall, Herodeon and more.
Her move to Scotland to study a Masters at the Royal Conservatoire immersed her in the UK jazz scene, where she collaborated with musicians including the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Corto.Alto, Fergus McCreadie, and BBC Euroradio Jazz Orchestra.
Now based in London after completing her Masters Degree at Guildhall, she has expanded her collaborations to include Idrisi vocal Ensemble, Abel Selaocoe & Alkanna Graeca and has performed at major stages and festivals such as Glastonbury, Southbank Centre, KOKO, Union Chapel, Cheltenham Festival, and Troxy.
Blending influences from jazz, folk, samba, and beyond, Irini also released her debut EP with Albert’s Favourites in 2024. Embracing her diverse background, she continues to evolve as a performer and composer, captivating audiences with her eclectic sound and voice.

Noum
Noum is an independent artist with a voice matched by unique songwriting and performance. Via a tapestry of music lineages her sound is raw, stripped back and driven, sharing roots with rock, country and electronic music at its core.
Having long treated the stage as a place for experimentation and an alternative to institutional education, which she deviated from at an early age‚ she recently formalised her interests in traditional music with the series "Songs From These Lands", hosted at the Puppet Barge, creating a space in which to share and connect with old songs.
Her long and fruitful involvement with Idrîsî Ensemble has lead her to perform in sold out cathedrals across England and Ireland and some of London's most iconic venues the likes of KOKO‚ Queen Elizabeth Hall & Royal Albert Hall. Meanwhile her scoring and sound design work for the likes of Girls in film‚ Falling Tree, Nowness‚ and most recently the BBC (with 8-part series ‘Holdfast!’) have played a big part in her development as a producer.
